Sidmouth Vs Exeter Youth U9s

     Exeter Youth - Feb 16-1

On Sunday Sidmouth played host to Exeter Youth .The first Sidmouth team found themselves in a war of attrition. The coaches decided not to play the 7 tackle rule and on occasion the phases entered double figures before turnover happened with Toby Morris, Leon Rowley and Roman Moore doing well as scrum halves. The half time score of 0-0 shows the ferocity of the tackling from both sides. Sidmouth tacklers Alec Bagwell, Scott Monro Higgs, Harry McMahon and Reece Hext were a credit to the side.

The second half saw Jack Pugh off the pitch injured and while waiting for a replacement the 6 Sidmouth players left on the pitch let through 2 tries.
When back up to full strength the Sidmouth team pushed Exeter and even Arlow Squires still running with 3 Exeter players hanging on him and Charlie Turleys interceptions the final score was still 2-0 to Exeter.

The Sidmouth Snipers were captained by Gyll Gray with Laisey Jackson, William Morris, Ellie Monro-Higgs, Oscar Bruce, Archie Rowcliffe, Tom Bird, Charlie Simic and Toby Sanford.

Our game with Exeter was like a Rocky movie, without the punching of course, as each side traded tries. With line defence and tackling being the focus areas the Snipers. Charlie Simic's enthusiastic tackling set the tone with good tackling from the rest of team. Tries came from good support play and offloads with Archie Rowcliffe, Tom Bird and Toby Sanford scoring tries, the latter scoring a hat trick.

Exeter had some good strong runners which led to a close game but Sidmouth Snipers snatched the win in the last minute of the game to leave the score 8-7.
