Sidmouth Vs Exeter Youth U8s

A dry morning saw us welcome Exeter Youth RFC to our Sidford site for 1 very muddy match and 3 played on slightly firmer ground!

While the kids enjoyed sliding in the mud, it’s safe to say some washing machines had a pretty tough follow up gig… Starting off with some warms ups and throwing the ball around, we had an eventful match against ourselves – 9 v 9 – to get the kids into the groove of playing again.

Being suitably warmed up, we looked for some volunteers to bolster our visitor’s ranks to ensure we could play some 6 v 6 games. We are grateful to Will Cotton, Will Swales, Jake Dunstan and Tyler Jackson for putting their hands up and most importantly playing well – good job!

Our visitors were pretty well organised it’s fair to say and have some decent players but that didn’t stop our kids putting on a very good show – it was excellent to see so much adventure and integrity in our play and great to see kids working hard each week. Some of our newer members are really starting to get to grips with the game and there were some wonderful tags, passes and runs from Daniel White and Ben Hooper to put a smile on our faces.

Unfortunately, the Sidmouth coaches got so involved in the games that they’re not sure of the final score however the gut feeling was that we were pipped to the post this week. We have training scheduled for this Sunday so we should be able to work on some aspects of the game to put the next match in no doubt!

Our player of the week this week was Will Swales, for immediately volunteering and playing well for the opposition – well done Will!
