Teignmouth Vs Sidmouth U8s

Thank you to all of you who braved the elements and made the distance today sure there were a few of us who’d rather have stayed indoors in the warm, so to have so many kids and mums and dads out was fantastic, our lads turned up keen as ever and progressed through the warm up drills.

We had 19 brave souls turn out at Teignmouth against their 13 and with only having one pitch available, I think (and hope) that everyone had a good time despite not getting much match time.

There were four matches played and everyone played their part, with all players trying their best and getting stuck in and performed some great runs and tenacious tagging. The lads really played well in attack and defence, both sets of player’s demonstrated good skills when passing and some of the tagging was excellent. I was very proud to hear supporters cheering "well played Sidmouth" on a number of occasions when we scored and when we defended well, some great turnovers lads!

Fair to say despite a great effort from both sides it was evenly matched, but the feeling was that Sidmouth came out on top.

“Player of the week” this week was Harry Murphy, not only scored his fair share of tries, but covered probably the most ground of any player and he kept at it and for this, he was recognised by the coaches as deserving the trophy this week.

Big thanks to the parents who helped in one way or another – especially Aaron and Daniel for stepping in whilst Joe was doing RFU training.
