U8 v Exmouth and Withycombe

Sidmouth U8s faced Exmouth and Withycombe away in Exmouth on a bright winters day. Sidmouth brought 3 teams who played against 2 from WIthycombe and 2 from Exmouth.
The first team played Exmouth 3 times winning each of their matches. Jack Pugh scored a hatrick of tries by outpacing the opposition on the wing while the Gazelle of the match award goes to Scott Monro Higgs for leaping over the final tagger to score his usual diving try. The team gelled superbly to force turnover ball due to constant tagging from all players.
The second team also won all 3 matches vs Exmouth and Withycombe with Ben Brook taking an excellent 6 tries. The difference between the teams was the tagging again with special mention going to Zach and Luca Arver and Harry Wood who has trademarked the diving tag.
The third team played 3 matches against Withycombe winning all 3 although the final game would have been a draw if not for a last minute intercepton and try from Charley Turley.Thomas Grove pounced on a couple of loose balls to create turnovers in both the first 2 matches which he converted to tries. Meanwhile Tom Bird positioned himself in his inimitable Tasmanian devilish style for some support play and a couple of key scores. In defence the line was held well with some crucial tackles from Reece Hext,  Leon Rowley and covering by Jude Sykes.
