Side Step Sunday for under 8's

U8's Sidmouth vs Cullompton - Side Step Sunday
On this bright sunny Remembrance Sunday the teams from both Sidmouth and Cullompton gathered together at Sidford to pay respects to the fallen for two minutes silence at 11:00.
This weeks team sheet were Oliver Marsh, Toby Sandford, Taylor Whitehead, Ned Coles, Luca Manning, Zac and Luca Arver.  Cully started with the ball and went over the line very easily. Sidmouth took the restart and through some great side stepping moves Zac Arver went over for the first of his two tries in the half. Cully came back through 2 more tries but it was all one way traffic with Sidmouth scoring another 6 tries to lead the first half at 35:15. Great running by Oliver Marsh saw him score 3 tries, Toby Sandford and Luca Arver picking up 1 try each. The second half was slower scoring for Sidmouth with Luca Manning and Toby Sandford picking up a try each. Even with the cheering of celebrity Kirstie Allsopp on the sidelines Cullumpton couldn't pull back and the  match finished with Sidmouth winning at 45:30.
A quick break and immediately into game two.
Cullompton starting with the ball but it was lost forward when the player went to ground. Sidmouth were quick to react and Oliver Marsh had a fantastic run the length of the pitch to score the first try. A lot of mistakes by both teams saw Sidmouth come out in favour with a second try by Oliver Marsh and then two sprint finishes by Ned Coles and Toby Sandford. Sidmouth finished the first half up at 20:5. The second half saw a low try count but what amazing footwork. This was the half of some superb side steps by Luca Arver who collected two tries. Sidmouth finishing the winners at 30:10.
Cullompton were great competition and pushed Sidmouth all the way. Well done to all the boys and the support from the sidelines.
