Under 7s Match Reports

Sidmouth U7's have a great season

Ivybridge Tournament

Sidmouth entered two teams from a pool of 13 players in the Ivyridge Rugby Festival. The tournament provided an excellent end to the season for the U7s 5 of which will be going up to the U8s next year  and the rest staying with the U7s. Both sides should excel next year.

In their pool the main rival in their pool was Cullompton which beat one Sidmouth team and was held to a 7-7 draw by the other Sidmouth team. Totnes also fielded some excellent players but were held back by numbers of players.

Mentions go to Daisy Grove for her outstanding support play and Luca Manning for outstanding tackling/tagging in the team that will go up to the U8s and to Charley Turley for being willing to help Totnes out against Cleo Turley

Thanks to Ivybridge for their outstanding organisation of the event that caps a brilliant U7 season.

Pontypool vs Sidmouth

Brilliant sunshine greeted 2 Welsh U7 teams from Pontypool to take part in an U7 International vs 3 Simouth's U7 teams.

The deserved winners were the Welsh "Stripes" team which also received the Welsh man of the match award. Both visitors teams showed great ability and determination to win even though they played under English rather than their own rules.

The English man of the match award went to Ellie Wood for superb commitment to both attack and defense despite being injured in a couple of plays. All 3 teams played with great heart and next year when the majority stay in the U7s  - we will expect a different result.

Thanks go to the Pontypool team who travelled all the way to play and who showed with their supporters a superb attitude towards the game that lead to a very enjoyable day - in the sun !

Kingsbridge vs Sidmouth

Sidmouth U7's travelled to Kingsbridge  to put out 2 teams  for a total of four matches comfortably winning the majority of them.

Ellie Wood and Ellie Monro Higgs showed some great straight running through the opposition to help the boys beat their team 13-9 and 9 -7. Both Kingsbridge and Sidmouth played some of their best rugby of the season with the ball running through the hands of each player a couple of times between restarts.

Herbie Isherwood helped his team to 2 wins with a number of great individual tries in the corner. Both teams tagged well to keep the play going from end to end.

Thanks go to the Kingsbridge U7 coaches and supporters who provided a great atmosphere for the players and thanks for allowing us to play on the pitches even though they were waterlogged.
