Sidmouth U7 vs Bridport

The Sidmouth U7s and girls U7/8's traveled to Bridport  last Sunday for their last game before their 2014 Cornwall Tour. The bright blue skies and long car journey left all the kids bursting with energy by the time we arrived. Bridport fielded 2 U7 teams versus the 5 Sidmouth teams that turned up. To even things up we played a small tournament which sadly meant some Sidmouth teams were disappointed not to get at their Bridport opposition.

The girls played well again drawing 8-8 and winning 8-6 versus the boys they played. They continue to show their better organisation than their opposition and mention must go to new girl Zoe Allen who played brilliantly - outpacing most of her male opposition. Ellie Monro Higgs also played well continuing to astound the boys by running through them and  Esmey Taylor ran in support superbly.

The U7 boys teams drew once (7-7) and won twice (8-3 and 8-5) against their Bridport opposition. The team being coached by Mark Ross did exceptionally well showing that they can link up and support at pace and are willing to run the ball straight through their opposition. They also exhibited great pace with Reece Hext showing the opposition his heels on a number of occassions. In the other Sidmouth teams Thomas Bird showed his tenacity by collecting a record number of tags and occasionally the odd opposition player.

Thanks must go to Bridport coaches and parents for their welcome. The next installment will be a report from the U7/U8 Cornwall Tour where we are playing St Ives, Hayle and Falmouth next weekend.
