Sidmouth Under 15's V Withycombe

Sidmouth U15’s had a great friendly game against Withycombe on Sunday. Playing in glorious sunshine, both teams enjoyed a lot of great game of running rugby split into 3 phases.

Having played and beat Withycombe a few weeks ago, Sidmouth were aware their visitors were up for revenge.

A strong Sidmouth squad of 23 turned up for the match, allowing plenty of fresh legs all eager to have their turn. Sidmouth forwards were strong from the off, dominating play to feed the glory boys out in the backs, allowing them to run in a torrent of tries.

Try scorers were Angus, Rory, Dave, Harry, Jack and Ben. Jamie and Lucan got their tries for the forwards.

Many of the tries were skilfully converted.

The last 1/3 showed good sportsmanship by Lucan, Rory, Harry and Sam swapping sides to help even the match up a bit. This helped inspire the Withycombe team to come back with a well earnt try by their scrum half Tom.

Young man of the match is split between 3 players who were ‘on fire’ today, Angus, Dave and Dan. Newcomers Pedro and Sam also showed great effort and talent.

Well done to all the boys on both teams for an entertaining good spirited game.

Referee was Derek Blackburn

Good luck to Tom, Sam and Conner repairing from their injuries.
