Under 14's enthusiasm was outstanding throughout

Sidmouth 7 Kingsbridge 43

For a variety of reasons Sidmouth were missing most of their bigger players today, but this also gave game time to some of the smaller players, who might not normally get a full game. Kingsbridge, though are a very good team as they showed by immediately scoring. Allen, playing out of position, showed his strength and speed to power through. He converted his own try. This gave Sidmouth some confidence and it is to their immense credit that, but for a disallowed try would have had parity at half time. This was due in part to some excellent defensive work from Hill and Lao. Their attitude and enthusiasm was outstanding throughout and a joy to watch.

Early on in the second half  Sidmouth lost to injury 2 more influential players and for a torrid 15 minutes Kingsbridge exploited this scoring 5 tries, but the coaches asked for character for the last 15 and they got it in spades. The back row of Robinson, Johnson-Graves and Bolton punched well above their weight, which was probably half our usual! The Davies brothers, as ever, put their heads where others fear to! Unsworth, Chugg-White and Bright gave their all trying to hold the scrum together. The backs did their best on what was a freezing afternoon and even Morgan realised he cannot tackle 3 people at once. Pride was restored and the ‘battle scars’ will remind the boys of their hard work today. Well done.
