Dorchester Vs Sidmouth U13s

Sidmouth 55 Dorchester 5

This week we travelled to Dorchester to face a team completely unknown to us apart from hearing they were one of Dorset's stronger teams. They had asked for a fixture with Sidmouth to test themselves against 'tougher' opposition prior to their cup match as the teams they normally play were quite weak.

Due to it being Remembrance Sunday many of the Sidmouth team had marching duties leaving us with just 16 available to travel.

So with several players playing out of their normal positions and comfort zones we kicked off. Playing on their first teams ground in front or the main clubhouse the game started with a series of strong exchanges with neither side gaining any great advantage however 2 interception tries in quick succession from Sidmouth changed the whole game.

Now playing with great confidence Sidmouth started to spread the ball wide and on a big pitch their strike runners really started to cause Dorchester all sorts of problems.

It was still relatively close at half time with Sidmouth leading by 19 - 0. After the break however the flood gates opened with Sidmouth running in a further 6 tries. Dorchester did manage a consolation try with the last play of the game.

Perhaps Dorchester didn't expect us to be quite such a stern test for them but we hope they bounce back in their cup match next week.
