Exeter Chiefs U13s 17 : Sidmouth 10

Heroic Defence.
In the first half Sid faced an onslaught of hard charging XL Exeter youths intent on battering their way over our line. But total commitment was shown in defence from the two Joshes and Big Jo to limit Chiefs to 2 tries and several 'very nearlies'. Sidmouth's scrum again proved staunch and all who feature in it must be heartily congratulated on technique and effort.
The new pairing of Bernhardt & Morgan, at scrum half and first five eights, spluttered into action but soon found a rhythm.
The second half proved a different story and with a new front 5 Sidmouth began to gain ground. New recruit, Andy Donovan, took the game to Chiefs and ripped into their now flimsy forward effort and was rightly aggrieved not to have been awarded his 1st try. Max Dix was, again , a thorn in Exeter's side and targeted by the blacks as a 'must stop' player.
The 'Bridport Banger' Elsworth did eventually power over for a glorious try and Morgan , whilst still nursing damaged digits finished off an epic blind side attack with 'Coler' providing the sweetest of well-timed link passes. Chiefs squeaked another try against the run of play but mysteriously the ref remained 'unsighted' for Big Jo's valiant 2nd try which was witnessed by both sets of coaches.

Hey ho... But well done the Lads !!
