Confident U13 win round 2 of Devon Plate

Honiton U13    7     Sidmouth U13  54

Sidmouth marched confidently into the 2nd round of the Devon Plate cup competition with a solid victory at Honiton.
The boys raced out of the blocks and into an early lead through powerful drives from the big No.8 Joe Elsworth and the lightning quick Josh Golding on the wing. There then followed a period of hesitancy where our boys struggled to adapt to the refs interpretation of ruck laws and subsequently they conceded multiple penalties and eventually gave up a try. This briefly  buoyed the 'Lacemen' but Sidmouth eventually found the combination of simple rugby which yielded big points. Utility man Cole Monaghan's sublime handling put Golding away again and the forwards stated to dominate. Finlay Johnson, back to his imperious best, stormed forward for multiple carries before crowning his performance with a rock hard score. Jack Marchant, MoM ( man of the match ) scrummaged superbly and Max Dix  yet again tackled, carried and stole all game long. Sean Harvey, at fly half, scored the try of the match after a glorious combination from 8,9 and 10.  Josh Roberts also chipped in with a try to underline another solid performance from full back and skipper on the day Dom Bernhardt made 7 conversions.  Well done to the whole team especially to those who filled in out of position.
