Sidmouth U11s at Chippenham Festival.

A small Sidmouth squad ventured north to play in pastures new in this renowned Wiltshire festival. First up were local rivals Withycombe and having had half the team arrive late in the snow Sidmouth were slow to settle against one of Devon’s best outfits. Our forwards seemed to cope well but the threes struggled against guile, pace and a good passing game.  A 2-0 loss ensued.

Three more close losses followed against Swansea, Salisbury and Bath and so team management decided to use the festival as a fun exercise and give all players a chance to play in any position they wanted. Props to wingers, second rows to scrum halves and centres to front row. More similar score lines followed but all players had a chance to express themselves and seemed to enjoy the experience whilst not troubling the score board.

Huge thanks must go to the intrepid gang of ever faithful parents who made the full on commitment to travel that far and support the team.
