The U11's shackles are off

Exmouth U11s 7 Sidmouth U11s 36

The shackles of a long wet winter and waterlogged pitches were thrown off in scintillating fashion when Sidmouth visited a burley Exmouth assemblage. At the centre of Exmouth’s pack was a youth so large that he went by the nick-name ’The Freak’  and surely had the presence of two players. The Sidmouth pack, however, were undaunted and feverishly went about dismantling any strangle hold game plan the gigantic Cockles may have had. Our very own Whirling Dervish, Harley Smith, destroyed any of the opposition forward’s continuity and Finlay Johnson, Sidmouth’s own Man Mountain, dominated much of the contact area with a show of immense power and control.

The Cockles proved stern opponents for the first of the 4 quarters and only a trademark Will Kennaugh charge broke the deadlock.

Ringing the changes and playing the full squad saw Sidmouth move through the gears playing some expansive rugby with great link play from Cole, Louie and Josh. The commitment shown by Alex Peacock can’t be over emphasised as time after time he forced his way through to become the first man on a loose ball. More tries followed from Lou, FJ, Joshie 2 and Will as Sidmouth moved out of sight. Good technique was also shown by Ben Scrivens, Rafe Elliott charged hard and Archie Rowe knocked over anything in Pink that moved !

The Swashbuckling approach to kicking conversions, however,  can only be described as entertaining…
