Sidmouth Under 11's v Cullompton

A Game of Four Quarters

It was a bright, crisp November morning at Kings Ottery's sports fields, which provided great conditions for the Sidmouth Under 11's to host Cullompton.

Anticipation was high as the u11's kicked off following a closely fought u12's game which saw Sidmouth narrowly miss out of a win.

The match was played in four 12 minute quarters:

Quarter 1 saw a strong start from Cullompton which was countered by a superb incisive run by Daniel Wen through the middle of the pitch. Ollie Brealy and Jed Robson were in the thick of the action. Great tackles from Jimmy Brett and Ed Cooper and some powerful running from George Taylor weren't enough to reduce the deficit. Quarter 1 finished Sidmouth 0 - Cullompton 4.

Quarter 2 saw a change of Sidmouth personnel with renewed energy. James Allen quickly scored in the corner after a strong run down the right wing. Noah Western followed up with a rapid burst that saw him land in the opposite corner to put Sidmouth 2-0 up. Sam Pugh put in a strong performance in defence with some great tackling, but Cullumpton eventually got through to score a breakaway try. Sidmouth's workhorses Noah Innes-Kruger and Taine Benson were consistently determined to drive the opposition back. Q2 score 2-1 to Sidmouth.

Quarter 3 was a closely fought encounter but the result went Cully's way 2-0.

Quarter 4 Miles Lewis had a great start, scoring in the corner after a blistering run. To follow up, a great exit kick from deep in Cullompton territory by Noah Western saw Miles chase, catch and score in the corner to the delight of the crowd. The celebrations were short-lived though after an offside call against Miles. Noah Western finished the scoring off with another sublime burst of speed and a try in the corner to level the Q4 score at 2 each. Overall score Sidmouth 4 Cullompton 9.
