Sidmouth U11's V Tiverton

Tiverton Under 11s 9 Sidmouth Under 11s 9 – 19th October 2014

In an enthralling contest in at times balmy weather conditionsSidmouth played their sunshine rugby a gripping encounter in Mid Devon.

Noah Western was first to open the scoring from a move which was initiated from a well organised scrum.

Soon afterwards James Allen found the ball on the wing to drive the ball over the try-line to double the score for the visitors.

Tiverton then proceeded to score a hat trick of tries withoutreply. Sidmouth continued to enjoy possession but had no answer to Tivy’s rapid counter attacks.

1st quarter finished Tiverton 3 Sidmouth 2.

The second quarter belonged to Tiverton with another three tries, making the score quarter 6-2 to the home team.

The 3rd quarter is where the Sidmouth fight-back began. Reuben Bennett scampered over the line to make it 3-6. It was then James Allen’s turn to score and turn the momentum in Sidmouth’s favour with 3 superb successive tries. Reuben Bennett cemented the Sidmouth fight back with a try with which Sidmouth regained the lead 7-6

At was at this crucial point in the match that Jed Robson demonstrated Sidmouth’s never say die spirit with a great tackle which completed floored his opponent.

Amazingly Tiverton then ended the 3rd quarter with another 3 tries to regain the lead 9-7 as the teams started the final quarter.

This would have knocked the stuffing out of lesser teams but not Sidmouth.

Noah Innes-Kruger then took the opportunity to score a great individual try after good work from Edward Cooper

And who else but James Allen was to score the final try of the day to earn a greatly deserved equaliser and to take hispersonal tally of the day to 5 tries. However, excitement mounted at the death when Tiverton went on a rampaging run only to be stopped by an unbelievable last ditch tackle by Ben Sheridan which saved the day for Sidmouth and ensued that the spoils were shared.

Well done to both teams for a great game of rugby which will live long in the memory.

Man of the match for Sidmoutwas shared three ways  between Ben Sheridan, Jed Robson & Miles Lewis  all for outstanding tackling.
