Bridport V Sidmouth U10s

Sunday saw the U10s play their first game of the season, with 16 players taking the field.  This was a double header against both Bridport and Weymouth.

The first game was against Bridport and saw new recruits Jed Atwell and Jack Fanning in the Sidmouth Jerseys. Sidmouth were very clinical at the breakdown and cleared out Bridport at the ruck. It was this difference at the ruck that saw Sidmouth dominate the first game finishing 3 tries to 1.

The second game was against Weymouth who looked like they could pose some problems for Sidmouth who were fielding a very inexperienced team.  . Ned Coles put in some great rucking to make a close contest.  A Man of the match performance by George Tanner through strong running with the ball and good defence saw the game end in a draw.

The third game was against Bridport. By now Sidmouth started to show their dominance at the ruck and were exceptional in ripping of the ball through Finn Cotton. Jack Fanning scored an excellent try literally from his own try line. Sidmouth finished the game 3 tries to 0.

The fourth game was against Weymouth where the recruits of Noah Finlay, Lottie Reid and Thomas Fletcher but in a great display. A fantastic offload out to the wing saw Thomas Fletcher also score on his debut in the corner.

It was an enjoyable day and great start to the season for players and parents. Thanks to the hosts Bridport and to Weymouth. Next week will be a much stronger challenge with the Exeter Chiefs.
