Under 10’S

Credition–v- Sidmouth

What a Christmas Cracker!

Sidmouth Under 10’s journeyed to new opponents, Crediton, on Sunday for the last game of this year, hoping for a win to make their Christmas a good one.

Crediton looked like they meant business and the muddy pitch looked like it was going to be a challenge; but the teams were not deterred.

The first game of two, saw Sidmouth defending consistently, keeping Crediton in their own half with great tackling from Thomas Fletcher, Will Cockayne-Cottrell and Ben Fisher, who again played with keen determination in a very slippery field.

Although extremely difficult running conditions, the ball was passed well and the whole team worked hard to make ground.  Sam Cole, Louis Cornick, Will Crick, Freddie Roberts, Will Cockayne-Cottrell and Ben Fisher, who made great forward play, all kept the pressure on and the team drove forward giving opportunity for Gabriel Roberts, Louise Cornick, Thomas Fletcher and Will Crick to score their tries – Sidmouth taking the first game 5-2.

The second game was equally challenging, the pitch now like a mud bath at the middle and the ball slipping all over the place.  Sidmouth again set about pressuring Crediton and keeping them away from the try line – great tackling from Oliver Mitchell, Ryan Cozens and Will Bolton helped to deflect the Crediton Forwards – Ben Fisher, Charlie and Freddie Roberts, Finlay Hobday, Ryan Cozens, Will Crick, Will Cockayne-Cottrell, Oliver Mitchell and Will Bolton all had good game play moving the ball forward.  Tries came from Will Bolton, Ryan Cozens, Finlay Hobday and Charlie Roberts.  The boys really showed their passion and commitment by keeping the pressure on in very difficult conditions – taking the second game 6-1.

Ben Fisher was awarded a much deserved Man of the Match for his great all round play.

A great result from both games for an Under 10’s team who are developing good skills, great communication and working well together – a brilliant one to finish 2014 and much deserved break for the boys and a merry Christmas for all.
