Under 10s Take on Chard

Match Report 18th November 2013

Sidmouth v Chard (Home/Sidford)

The weather conditions were mild and overcast, not bad for this time of year.

It was a later start than usual; the first game didn't get underway until 11:50am. As a result the boys were well briefed and warmed up, raring to go against the rather light contingent from Chard, fielding just 8 players.

The game got off to a rapid pace with tries coming thick and fast from Sidmouth, quickly notching up a 4 points to Nil lead.

It was instantly apparent that our opposition were a little underpowered, due to the re-arrangedfixute.  As usual, Ripper Rueben was in brutal form, deftly wrenching the ball from Chard on the rare occasions they got hold of it. Both Noahs tackled with their usual venom and spite, ALL the Georges ran with purpose and effect, both Edwards looked like scoring every time they touched the ball, Jed was as fiery as he has ever been, Ben was a revelation as skipper and Ollie continually bamboozled with his dancing feet, whilst Taine was brutal in the contact and Jimmy relentless in hunting the opposition down!  Rather than demoralise the game Chard contingent, we opted to modify the playing conditions slightly  thus allowing us to hone the aspects of our play that we have been working tirelessly on every Wednesday night for the last 5 0r 6 weeks.

With the exception of Big Jim and Max, we fielded one of our strongest teams of the season today,  which meant that most opposing teams would have found us a handful to deal with!!

As expected, the scoreline was pretty irrelevant - suffice to say, we won!

The game against Crediton this week should allow us to further test our development thisseason.
