Exmouth 39 Sidmouth 0

Exmouth ran in 7 tries against a plucky Sidmouth team, fielding Bryn Thomas, on the wing due to a lack of backs. The first 10 minutes were pretty even, Sidmouths best chance was a blind side break by Steve Trim, who fed Thomas, the stand in winger done superbly driving in field setting up another attack, thwarted by the home side who managed to clear thier lines. Exmouth crossed the try line , sucking in the green defence, creating space out wide. Martin Keywood seemed back to his hungry best, disrupting several scrums and making himself a nuisance to the home side in the loose.

A water break after 20 mins seemed to disrupt Sidmouths flow as Exmouth scored 2 quick tries, 1 converted. John Kitchen having his 1st match of the season, was always a threat breaking several tackles, helping Dan Russell and Ben Norcombe to play thier best games so far. Ben Pratt made a excellent try saving tackle, before Exmouth extended their lead with another forward's try just before half time. 22-0.

The 2nd half looked ominous for Sidmouth when the home side scored after 2mins. But with Lewis Tollerfield, Ryan Davies and Dan Prettyjohn all exerting pressure on the home side, ably backed up by Mike Down, Pete Singfield and Ben Halford, Exmouth conceded a penalty on the 10 metre line, James Powell was just wide of the uprights. Ben Pratt counter attacked from his own half, in a game that was opening up for both sides..

Sidmouth stole a line out ball on their own 5 metre line, a good clearance kick was snapped up by the home full back who danced his way through some woeful tackling to score under the posts, the conversion was good. With less than 10 mins to go Martin Keywood was unfortunate to receive a yellow card, despite being a man down Sidmouth still tried attacking at all times, Ben Pratt and Ben Norcombe both put in excellent tackles to stop Exmouth scoring, until the last play a scrum on the 5 metre line, which the home side pushed the tired Quins off the ball for the final score.

A big thank you to Bryn who stepped into his idol Kenny Logan's shoes, impressing at the same time.

This week the 2's are at the Blackmore against South Molton 1st team
