Terry O'Brien, Kerin Hamill and John Hamill represented the Club at the RFU President's Award presentations, which took place at a special luncheon at Twickenham Stadium prior to the England v Wales match on Sunday 29th May. The Club was shortlisted in the category for Facility Development for the Sidford pitches and clubhouse refurbishment. Terry was the fundraiser for both projects and Kerin was responsible for the design work of the clubhouse.

Along with the other nominees in the same category, they were hosted by Malcolm Wharton, RFU Council member and chairman of the Community Game Board. Malcolm is also the Sidmouth board member responsible for buildings and grounds. Malcolm was the project manager for the Sidford pitches project.

The award winners were the Isle of Wight RFC. The awards were presented by RFU President Jason Leonard. Terry and Kerin were presented with a certificate to commemorate the Club's nomination.

Last November, Jason Leonard was the guest of honour at a dinner held in the clubhouse to celebrate the completion of both projects, which are proving to be a great success. The pitches have had a 40% increase in use in the first season despite the exceptionally wet weather. Meanwhile, the number of bookings for events in the clubhouse have inceased significantly.
