On Wednesday 30th September rugby legend and RFU Chairman Bill Beaumont interrupted his Rugby World Cup duties to visit Sidmouth RFC and officially open the refurbished clubhouse. He also presented club chairman Lester Willmington with an RFU Gold Award for to recognise the quality of work carried out. This is one of only five awarded nationally.

The picture shows the presentation. Also in the photo are Kerin Hamill, who was responsible for the design work, and project manager Lee Sowden, who organised the contractors and supervised the work.

The project was assisted by an RFU Lead Up and Legacy grant, a funding scheme to boost grass roots rugby clubs for expected increase in interest generated by the Rugby World Cup.

The clubhouse has been packed with members and supporters to watch England's matches on the big screen.
